Metropolitan Love Story tag with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about taking a leap. As it is Leap Day, do you call it that? I'm not sure... Like trying new techniques, making a birthday card for somebody whose birthday is February 29th, or maybe a wedding inspired project.

My tag was inspired by romantic movies. I like almost all the genre films, and really like romcoms, not really those old ones, as you might expect since I used the Prima Marketing Ephemera picture.

I really got the taste to photo tint pictures with Watercolor Pencils. I'm really a fan of pencils instead of markers and ink. For photo tinting, I love more to use the subtle colors. The markers and inks are a little too intense for that technique for me.

To see the process from start to finish, click on the video below.

12 tags of 2016 - February

Hi everyone,

Why do I always wait until the last minute to make the 12 tags? I don't know it myself. Anyway, back to Tim's February tag. What a gorgeous tag! He's made a mixture from the techniques of June 2014 and March 2015. Since Valentine's Day is already over, I didn't chose that theme. Although I've used a heart!

For the photo tinting I used Prima Marketing Watercolor Pencils. Which work perfectly on the Prima Marketing Ephemera. They are very subtle. I don't need to prep the surface or anything. They work perfect on plain cardstock. I think it's because with photo tinting the areas are so small. Not sure if it really works as nice on larger areas in combination with plain cardstock.

For the second technique with Embossing Powder and the Texture Paste, I used Embossing Paste instead. I've already bought a jar of Texture Paste. But must use up the Embossing Paste, before it dries out. Embossing Paste doesn't react well to heat, but I think the soft edges are nice too.

Music Notes Art Journal Spread with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about being inspired by music.

I think of myself as a music lover, although I can concentrate better without music. But there are plenty of moments to put on a little music. During crafting for example. This art journal spread is based on my love for music. I find those Ephemera Prima Marketing absolutely fabulous, because they are so gorgeous and can be used for lots of different kinds of projects. I chose a photo of a lady for my layout. I adhered it with all sorts of Washi tape.

With Archival Ink Jet Black I stamped the Music Sheet and It is Written stamps around the picture. Last week the new release of Simon Says Stamp, called Reason to Smile, came out. For this spread I used the Friendship Blooms stamp set. I colored with a Black Aquarelle Pencil and Green Watercolor Pencil from Prima Marketing. To give these flowers a little more dimension I gave a small white accent with a White Gelly Roll Pen.

I made another video from start to almost the finish. I thought I had put the camera back on when I used the Sunset Sunrise stencil and Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Spray. But unfortunately I didn't push the record button... For all other steps, click below for the video :).

Recycle Dream on Card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Recycle style.

With crafting I throw too many things away. Scraps, packaging and things in daily life that I could have used in my projects. This challenge got me thinking to not just throw everything away. But think if I could use it for something in the future. I used a packaging from a Prima Marketing stamp set as the base for my card.

My first step was making a background blending Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink together. And because the packaging a bit of a gloss finish the ink work very nicely. Especially the Spritz and Flick method works well with this surface.

To apply contrast and make some texture I chose the Latticework stencil with some Black Soot colored Crackle Paste. To give the crackle more definition I went over it with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool. With a white Gelly Roll pen I doodled some effects to the crackle, the Butterflies and the Cork letters. Below the whole proces of making this card:

Spritz and Spray card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Spirtzing and Spraying.

Do you like spritzing and spraying? It's so much fun, isn't it? It's a quick way to give an artsy look to your project. For my project I've used two colors Distress Spray Stain and the ZigZag stencil. That way if you don't necessarily like the spray spletter look, you can use them for their beautiful colors and make a gorgeous background. I must say that I'm a spray spletter look lover, but I wanted to make a subtle background with a stencil and with a light color in the middle that works great.

I absolutely love my new stamp from Impression Obsession, called Wooden Plank. You're gonna see that stamp in projects to come for sure. Woodgrain is still very popular, also in home interiors. Lately I get my inspiration from there. And finally I've used the Children stencil that I have maybe for two years now...

For the whole process, see the video below.

Dina style inspired tags with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Ray of Sunshine. We are showcasing Dina Wakley products if you have them.

I think Dina Wakley's style is totally awesome. She is very good with the use of colors. And I like her style of drawing, it's quite amazing. It has a nonchalant feel, but there is a lot of technique and knowledge behind her art.

For this challenge I made two tags. The first one didn't get recorded, because it was late in the evening and I don't have enough light then. But I was in a crafty mood and wanted to go wild with colors. I used  Dina's techniques and her color use wherever possible, but I also have added my own style to the tags.

When I see the result of the color explosion, I really need to do this more often. What a cheerful colorful tags, they make me so happy! To make the color stand out a little more I drew some outlines with a white Gelly Roll pen around the Leaves.

Lately I make a video of all my projects, so I needed to make another tag and record it so you can see how I've created my tag. It so fun to share, but it's also fun for me to watch it sometimes.

I absolutely don't have any drawing skills! It's so bad that I can't even trace an image. But with this Dina Leaves mask I was able to fake some drawing skills, LOL! What an amazing effect  a black aquarelle pencil gives!
See below the video of the second tag that I made from start to finish.
