One for the boys

Hi everyone,

Two days ago I was at Lein's and this is the other project I made. This was the one that took me the longest. The background has a lot of layers (even though you may not see it... LOL). But most of the time is taken by the creative process itself. I find it hard to make decisions because I'm afraid I'd screw it up. I must not think that way, only positive thoughts. So what if I screw up, then I just start over! No big deal ... That's something I need to work on. Just do, and don't think or hesitate, just go for it!

With this card, I participate with Simon Says Stamp and Show.

Brushless butterflies

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I packed almost all of my hobby supplies and went over to Lein's house for a crafty day. Even though I packed almost my whole craft room and I still forgot some stuff! Sigh ... but I manage to make two things... yes, it was not a very productive day, but we had a lot of fun anyways!

First was the brushless watercolor technique. This technique is the 7th challenge of the Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge from Studio L3. This time it is sponsored by electic Paperie!
I don't seem to get this technique to work on "regular" paper, only on water color paper, but that's okay. And there is at least one more way to do this technique. In the Creative Chemistry 101 we learned a different way. I thought it was funny to use this butterfly for the technique, LOL.

World Traveler

Hi everyone,

Here in the Netherlands it's finally beautiful weather, so I want to spend as much time as possible outside and enjoy it, because it usually doesn't last long. So crafting gets a little lower on the priorities list for now. But today I stayed inside to make a London Shabby Chic card. I enjoyed making it.

With this card I participate with:

Birthday Boy

Hi everyone,

Today I made a card for my best friend Xander. His birthday is next weekend. Unfortunately, I don't see him as much the last couple of years. He is in the army and is located somewhere else in the country. He is only home on weekends and has a very busy schedule then. We used to have spaghetti nights every Monday and we watched a movie or some series (Heroes, Lost, Eli Stone). That was our thing for many years. Once in a while we have a spaghetti night and that's always very cool.

This card is like my other manly card, but this time a little less color. I bought a new punch, a zigzag one. I am super happy with it.

With this card, I participate with the following two challenges:

London Baby!

Hi everyone,

It's birtday season at the moment. So I have lots of birthday cards to make. This time for a dear friend of mine. We recently went to London and I made a photo card about it. We gave each other this trip for our birthday. We have had a really great time and we have seen a lot of London. We were there only 2 days, way too short in my opinion. I really want to go back for a longer time and see lots more!
I didn't have any London stamps, so I bought these ones for the ocassion.

With this card, I participate with Our Creative Corner, where they have a photo challenge!
I also joining in with Dutch Card Lovers, where the challenge is a sketch.

Compendium of Curiosities 2 #6

Hi everyone,

Can't believe this is the 6th technique of the Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenge already! This time we have to do the technique that's called the Tissue Wrap Collage.   This time the challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Boutique!
Fortunately we were informed we had to have tissue wrap. So I've ordered it right away. It's different than I expected. It's more waxy than I imagined.
For my first attempt I've used the weathered clock die, but that one has too many small holes and it was one big mess. So I've used the tattered floral die instead.

With this tag I'm also entering at Paper Take Weekly, where the theme is In The Garden.

For you

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was over at Lein's for a short crafty afternoon. I've only colored in this stamp. I color very slow, because I'm not so good at it, and I so wanna be. I don't color with my copics very often, and I still have to get the feeling of what colors goes well together. I found out that even if they are in the same color family, that it doesn't mean that they blend well together. So my first attempt therefore failed. The second attempt was much more successful! For this card I used the Mojo Monday sketch.

The colors are absolutely not a match with the original. In the photo it looks more blue than purple... The butterfly also, that's stamped with Dusty Concord Distress Ink! Then you know how much the colors are off in the picture.

It's my brothers birthday

Hi everyone,

Today I made a card for my brother. Next week he will be 37. And of course I can not go to his birthday without a handmade card. I find it very difficult to make a masculine card. It's not a typical male card. When I think about a male card, it has dark colors. I wanted nice bright colors, for this one.

With this card, I participate with Frilly and Funkie. This time the challenge is to use stencils or masks. I used a stencil. I absolutely love this stencil. It is the Mini Punchinella of The Crafters' Workshop. I want a few more.... Can't get enough of them.

A CAS card

Hi everyone,

What is a CAS (Clean and Simple) card difficult to make! I am not very good at it, I know that now. I seriously did 4 or 5 attempts to get to this one. I'm happy with the result. The other attempts just weren't it. First I wanted to make something with diffusers, but that did not really worked out. I have messed up 3 cards because the diffuser kept moving (they look very damaged after only using it once ... does anyone have used the diffusers and can tell me if that's supposed to happen?) And the design didn't came together. Then I tried stamping with Distress Markers, that was not a success either, it was too light and it didn't look good. It's a creative journey, as they say. With this card, I participate with Dutch Card Lovers.

Double Tim Fun!

Hi everyone,

When I woke up this morning and I saw that Tim had made his tag of May, I was SO happy. Was looking forward to it for some time now. Since yesterday there is also a new Compendium of Curiosities technique at StudioL3 and this time it's the shattered stains. This time it's sponsered by Simon Says Stamp! Linda says it's a simple technique, but I do not always get the desired result. I think it's because my crackle paint is as thick as jelly! But I used the last bit. I bought the biggest package and I have just checked it and it's perfectly  liquid. I'm hopeful for the next time :).

The crackle paint was not the only issue I had today, I have no melting pot, and I really wanted to do the porcelain technique. So I melted UTEE in a pan on greaseproof paper, and the UTEE burnt a bit! In the pan was some UTEE and it burned into my pan, so I have to throw it away .... NOT be repeated! DON'T try this at home!

Engaged!

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago my friend Ellen told me she got engaged! I'm so happy for her! That's a great reason for a card. Around that time I received an invitation from Our Creative Corner to be a guest designer for one time. I was thrilled, of course I wanted to. The challenge is a beautiful sketch of Meihsia Liu.

So I made this card for Ellen and Aaron.

CD album

Hi everyone,

Today I spent all afternoon on this CD album. In other words, an album made of CDs. I wanted to use more CDs, but with all the embellishments, it was better to use only 3. With this CD album I participate with Simon Says Stamp and Show where I had to show my favorite stamp. That is Papillon by Tim Holtz. Especially the background stamp is amazing. It's so versatile. And I'm joining in with Frilly and Funkie. I had to alter something. Yes, you guess it right, I altered CD's.

It's your Birthday!

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow is my mother's birthday and I wanted something nice for her and it's her 65th birthday. That's a big deal in the Netherlands, because then you retire. Despite the party I organized for my parents last weekend (thanks for all the sweet messages I received about it! Super sweet of you!), I don't want to come empty-handed. My mother loves chocolate, so I brought some chocolate for her. She literally eats that everyday!

I'm entering this tag to the following challenges:

  • Compendium of Curiosties 2 Challenge (Faded Layers Technique)
  • Our Creative Corner (Color Challenge)
  • Paper Take Weekly (Anything goes)
  • Inspiration Journal (Bring on the May Flowers)

  • I had so much fun making this tag, although I wasted 2 other tags making it. The Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes are a bit to thick for this technique, and I used a clear stamp that was to soft. And finally I got it! I love the techniques in Tim's Book.

    Happy Mother's day

    Hi everyone,

Last sunday was the surprise party for my parents and it went better than expected. Everybody that was invited and RSVP'ed came. And they were all on time! The party was held in a venue near by my parents house so I could get them on foot. My parents were very curious what I'd planned for them, and when they arrived and saw almost the whole family of both sides, they were gobsmacked. I was so happy to see that! Everyone started to clap when they arrived and even started to sing. My father had tears in his eyes. Everybody had a good time. So happy that I did it, it was a very successful day!

Anyway, now back to business :). A Mother's day tag. My mom's bithday is always around Mother's day, and so we never celebrate Mother's Day and her birthday seperately. But this is a good time for making a Mother's Day tag. With this tag I participate with 3 challenges.

In the beginning the marbled backgrounds look horrible. At least mine do. And is very hard to see if it can become something beautiful. So I layer some more and work some more. Then I can see if it's good or not. And this one turned out quite nice. I water colored the butterfly with distress markers and a waterbrush. Love to water color with those. I know my mom will love it!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!
